The South River that cuts through the city of Waynesboro before heading north to join the South Fork of the Shenandoah is a in many way just a glorified creak. Miracle Mile Shuttle On The Middle River in Verona

Just outside of Staunton, Virginia, the middle river cuts through most of Augusta county before dumping into the North River in Port Republic. A signification portion, if not the majority of the river runs through private land with only a couple public access points to be found. This is why it's likely one of the least paddled rivers in the Shenandoah Valley. But a single mile shuttle along a quite country road, from put-in to takeout in Verona Virginia in return gives you a 4 mile trip along this small winding river, including a frick'n waterfall! Sadly, conditions are consistent enough to offer tours or lessons on this section of river, but it's truly one of those secrete floats that more people should experience... Read More!
