Places We Paddle

We have access or permits to run our trips from a couple great stretches of river here in the Valley. We hope to continue to gain more access points over time, but here are some of the places we our lesson & eco-tours from.

The North River
Bridgewater, VA

Putting in at Wildwood Park in Bridgwater, this section of the North River offers easy access to a 3/4 to 1 mile stretch of cold water fed from the headwaters to the west. A deep water pool above the dam  makes this calm and accessible year round. We offer both our lessons and eco-tours with a approx 2 mile out-and-back here. You can spot, geese, duck, herons, and various small fish in the shallows. Wildwood Park conveniently located  20 minutes from Harrisonburg and 30 minutes from Staunton.

South Fork of the Shenandoah
Rockingham County

Located 40 minutes from Staunton/Waynesboro and 30 minutes from Harrisonburg, our eco-tour on the South Fork of the Shenandoah River is a amazing location to enjoy a warm summers day on the water, paddling a little, swimming a little, and enjoying one of the most paddled rivers in the state. Our tour launches from the DWR boat ramp in the Town of Shenandoah and is a out and back trip. You can paddle anywhere between 2 - 4 miles, and float through a class 1 rapid!

The South River
Waynesboro / Augusta County

We have several places we can put in for  lessons with a mini eco-tour.  We have access points in the town of Grottoes and also use Basic Park and Rife Park in the city of Waynesboro. These are great for skills focused lessons focusing on mastering technique but not worried about pulling the miles like learning to navigate shallower rivers which will really open up the possibilities on SUP.

Beaver Creek, Crozet, VA

Beaver Creek is a reservoir lake in Crozet, VA approximately 30 minutes from Waynesboro, 40 minutes from Staunton, and 30 minutes from Charlottesville. Because swimming isn't allowed, we only offer group tours here in the shoulder seasons when it's not as hot as mid summer but still warm enough in case you fall into lake. We do accept private lesson or tour requests outside our preferred season but always reminding guests the no-swimming rule as it can get quite hot mid-summer with no reprieve.

Other Places You Can Paddle in Virginia

We have paddled a lot of places around the Shenandoah Valley and around Virginia. If you have your own gear, these are some of our favorite places to help you get out there and paddle on your own.
